ASSISTANCE TO NON PROFIT CORPORATIONS

Thunder Bay Ventures, through FedNor/Industry Canada , supports local community economic development projects that are identified as critical to the implementation of economic development within the Thunder Bay CMA.  ONLY Not-For-Profit corporations may apply for funding through Thunder Bay Ventures Local Initiatives Contribution program for their economic development projects.

GUIDELINES FOR COMPLETION OF LIC APPLICATION

Projects that are able to demonstrate the elements of community economic development will be considered. Applicants must review the 3 strategic directions of    and clearly demonstrate how their project supports at least one of the goals of the Community Development Plan. Only those projects which clearly demonstrate how they meet the goals of   will be funded.

Projects that show cost-sharing and partnerships within the community are encouraged. ELIGIBLE COSTS include project costs that support community development objectives; funding support for initiatives to a maximum of $5,000.

Upon conclusion of the project, successful applicants must be prepared to submit a statement of revenues and expenses, invoice copies and a summary report.

Projects that are eligible for LI contributions include:

• Pre-feasibility studies
• Research projects
• Community Information & Communications Technology (ICT) strategies & projects
• Projects to promote innovation and new techology
• E-commerce promotion
• Development of on-line business services
• Environmental assessment reports
• Small-scale capital projects
• Seminars/workshops
• Marketing/Promotional activities
• Community tourism events and
• Other community-based economic development projects

Projects that are not eligible for LI contributions include:

• Activities that require additional FedNor/Industry Canada contributions to be completed successfully
• Activities which create financial dependencies with external partners or on FedNor/Industry Canada
• Sponsorships for travel outside of the region
