BUSINESSES TALK TO STUDENTS!

Networking Lunch to follow with
keynote speaker Frank O'Dea from the Second Cup

Our goal:  to motivate the students with LOCAL Entrepreneur stories – the good, the bad and the reality! 

Thunder Bay Ventures and partners have invited a number of local business owners to tell their stories to approximately 185 high school students and teachers in the business, marketing and accounting programs.  These workshop presenters include:

 

·   Start-Up Businesses
George Guenther – the Village Smith  www.villagesmith.ca and Paul Amano – Boreal Journeys  www.borealjourneys.com
These businesses are relatively new businesses and can speak more to the start up phase 

·   Newer Retail Business
Alan Tocheri - The Loop www.theloopclothing.ca
Alan can speak to retail marketing and the importance of creating, following and modifying a business plan.  

·   Established Pharmacy Business
Brenda Adams – Janzen’s Pharmacy www.janzens.ca 
Brenda is a great example of purchasing an existing local business and moving it forward through teamwork, technology and hard work.  

·   Newer Technology Business
Andrew Condor – Aerovate – unmanned airborne vehicles  www.aerovate.com  

 Andrew is selling his remote control airborne solutions all over the world 

·   Established Communications Business
Stephanie Ash – Firedog Communications – www.firedogpr.com
Stephanie won a Young Entrepreneur Award a few years’ back and has been busy growing the business and her family - a first child was born this summer.  

 

Each business owner will discuss their own experiences and how they established and/or moved their business forward.
